Join us for an interactive workshop to discuss key scientific findings from the EU-ATLAS Project and implications for Blue Growth

Where: National Oceanography Centre, Southampton. Lab G1, Level 6

When: Wednesday 10th April 2019, 0930 - 1630  

The workshop will feature a diverse talk programme from a range of experts, panel discussions, and a poster session.

Morning: Talk Programme and Panel Discussions, 0930 – 1315

  • Session 1: Overview of ATLAS, Deep-sea mining in the North Atlantic, and Implications of applying an Ecosystem Approach.
  • Session 2: Changes to North Atlantic circulation, Advancing knowledge on vulnerable marine ecosystems, ATLAS case studies & Blue Growth, and Research-Industry partnerships in the deep sea.
  • Session 3: Blue Growth & insights from the ATLAS industry perspectives study.
  • Session 4: EU-MSP Platform & spatial conflicts and synergies in Blue Growth, and Biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction.

Afternoon: Poster session featuring ATLAS science, 1400 – 1630

We will be carrying out questionnaires during Ocean Business in order to better understand industry perspectives. Results from these will help to shape the way we incorporate industry needs in scientific research and policy, to support the sustainable growth of the Blue Economy.
